Drawing Session in Material
〰️Back on 8th of January 〰️
What is Material?
Material is an independent bookshop and a space for artists. Material organizes presentations, readings, exhibitions, performances, drawing sessions and events focused on book culture. It is organized by a collective group structured and based on a sense of community and solidarity.
Material is a LGBTQIA+ friendly space, with a culture anti-racist, anti-classist, collaborative, respectful, kind, open supportive and inclusive to everyone.
What is the Drawing Session? How is it structured and what is its goal?
The Drawing Session is an informal drawing workshop. Open to all and located in Material, hosted by Artemis Tsakiri. We all pose and all draw each other. We take it in turns to pose while the rest of the group draws. Usually we have a format of 7 minutes pose. It's a nice exercise first of all for our drawing skills, but also to give some quality time to observe each other as a form of communication. It’s very important to make clear that it is not necessary to have practice before drawing. It’s a shared place where experienced artists and people with no experience can be together. A meeting point which opens the space for creating a community where drawing is a practice of sharing, communication and observation, without judgment.
What do you provide? Should I bring something?
We provide snacks, drinks, A4 papers, pencils, markers, colour pencils and cardboards. Feel free to bring your favourite materials as well and an A4 folder so you can keep all your drawings together safe with your name on it.
How much does it costs?
It works with a sliding scale price
15.- , 20.-, 25.-
What does sliding scale means?
Sliding scale is for social equality and inclusivity and social awareness for both sides. For you and the organisation.
What responsibilities do I have as a part of the group?
The basic ones! Come on time and leave the space as you found it when you came♡︎
